Critiques

Critiquing others work.

Danielle:
Portrait #3
I really enjoyed how you blurred out the background and kept the subject the central focus. Also the subject is right in the center which improves the photo. I thought it was unique how the shadow of the hat covers her eyes and how her lips drew attention of the viewers. The photo could possibly be improved by flattening the (blurred) horizon line and having it at the one third or two thirds mark rather than in the middle of the composition.

Chase:
Still Life
As soon as I saw this photo, I thought it was very unique and it drew my interest right away. This appears to be the tennis courts, and you took two (cow?) skulls and placed them in the composition. The contrast between the green background and the white skulls grabs attention. I think this photo could have been improved by possibly blurring the back a little bit to highlight the skulls, or by placing the skulls in a part of the court/table where there were no white lines to distract attention.

Mythony:

Still Life
This photo is shot from a very interesting angle and the hurdles stacked on top of each other grabs the eye's attention. I think the black and white filter helps the photo by making sure the viewers attention isn't taken away by the horizon or possibly distracting parts of the background. I think one thing that could have improved the photo a little was making sure that all the hurdles were lined up one right behind the other. They are, for the most part, but there are a few in the back that aren't and this irritates the eye a slightly.
